Dani Alves recently returned to FC Barcelona, joining the club for free after being without a side since September of 2021.
Alves has so far been unable to be registered to play for Barca, but that is expected to change in the January transfer window.
Ahead of his long-awaited second debut for the Catalonian outfit, Dani Alves conducted an interview, in which he said he would not have accepted an offer from Josep Bartomeu to return to the club.
Bartomeu was replaced as president earlier this year.
“I would not have accepted an offer from him.
“I left when he was president and there was no point in working with him again.”
In response to these claims, Bartomeu has leaked a conversation he had with Dani Alves back in 2019.
The conversation, which was obviously written in Spanish, is translated below and shows Alves asking to come back to the club:
DA: Mr president, how are you? I want to come back home and play the 2022 World Cup as a Barça player. Let’s leave pride aside. We both need each other! –
JB: Hey Dani. No problem, but the technical staff has to agree. Did you speak to Abidal? Big hug. Barto.
DA: I can speak to him if you want!
JB: I’ll inform Abi and you can call each other.

Dani Alves has since responded to one of the journalists who put out the message:
For those who do matter with Barça, we do whatever it takes … but life knows what each one deserves. Sorry… Thanks
Para los que si importa con el Barça, hacemos lo que haga falta… pero la vida sabe lo que cada uno merece.
Sorry… Thanks 🙏🏽— Daniel Alves (@DaniAlvesD2) December 31, 2021
