Matty Cash sends message to Nottingham Forest as Premier League return confirmed

Aston Villa star Matty Cash has taken to social media on Sunday, to send a congratulatory message to Nottingham Forest.

Steve Cooper’s troops, of course, were back in action a short time ago.

After getting the better of Sheffield United over two legs in the Championship playoff semi-finals, Forest made the trip to Wembley, aware that victory over Huddersfield Town would ensure a long overdue return to the top-flight of English football.

And, when the 90 minutes were said and done, secure promotion is precisely what the Reds went on to do.

Despite riding their luck courtesy of some altogether questionable VAR decisions during the 2nd-half, an own goal on the part of Levi Colwill ultimately proved enough to guide Forest beyond Huddersfield, and to a spot back in the big time.

Messages of congratulations, in turn, have since flooded in, with Forest, of course, widely regarded as something of a sleeping giant of English football.

And, as alluded to above, one individual who was quick to reveal his delight with Cooper and co. finally getting over the line in their promotion pursuit came in the form of Matty Cash.

Stopper Cash of course lined out at the City Ground for four years from 2016 to 2020, establishing himself as something of a favourite amongst the Forest faithful.

Now plying his own trade in the Premier League with Aston Villa, the 24-year-old, in turn, was keen to confirm his delight with the Wembley endeavours of his former employers, taking to social media to send a simple message to all associated with the Nottingham club:
