Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes stole the show as Portugal booked their spot at Qatar 2022.
Portugal were in World Cup qualifying action on Tuesday evening.
After a 2-1 loss at the hands of Serbia in November, Portugal were knocked off top spot in their World Cup qualifying group, meaning they had to wait until March to learn if they would indeed be going to Qatar later this year.
To get to Qatar, Portugal first had to see off Turkey, something they did with relative ease this past Thursday.
Fernando Santos’ side then had to take on Macedonia on Tuesday, with the winner of that game booking their place in Qatar.
And whilst Portugal seemed like clear favourites heading into the game, it was worth remembering that Macedonia actually beat Italy in their previous WC qualifier last week to prevent the current European Championship holders from making it to yet another World Cup.
Despite this, Portugal would take the lead in the clash via Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes then doubled Portugal’s lead shortly after the hour mark, getting on the end of a great ball from Diogo Jota before smashing in his second of the day.
It’s that man again and if you thought his first finish was good, wait until you see this one 🤤
