Revealed: The cut-price fee Raphinha could leave Leeds for, in case of relegation

Word stemming from the English media on Friday suggests that Leeds United could be forced to part with star man Raphinha on the cheap this summer, if the club’s efforts to stave off relegation come up short.

The fee in question? As little as 15 to 20 million pounds.

The info comes courtesy of the reliable Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, who suggests that an agreement is in place between club and player for Raphinha to move on for a cut-price sum in case of the Whites slipping into the Championship, so as to ensure that he is not forced to spend a year playing outside of one of Europe’s top-5 leagues.

And one club expected to be keen on the Brazilian international’s signature under such circumstances comes in the form of Chelsea.

The European champions are understood to be keeping a close eye on a number of potential attacking additions ahead of the summer transfer window, with Raphinha joined by Barcelona’s soon-to-be free agent winger Ousmane Dembele on the club’s watch-list.

Spurs test

Turning attentions back towards the task at hand at Leeds, Marcelo Bielsa’s men will of course be hopeful of dealing their survival hopes a boost this weekend, when they welcome Antonio Conte’s stuttering Tottenham to Elland Road.

A return to winning ways would be long overdue for the Yorkshire giants, who are currently in the midst of a 5-game winless run in the Premier League, four of which came in the form of defeats.

Such form leaves the Whites hovering just three points clear of the relegation zone as things stand, with all of Everton, Newcastle and Burnley below them in possession of games in hand.
