Chelsea’s supporters have flooded to social media on Sunday evening, to reveal their frustrations with one particular member of the club’s squad.
The Blues were of course back in action a short time ago.
After sealing glory at the Club World Cup, Thomas Tuchel’s men made the trip to Wembley to take on Liverpool, hopeful of making it two trophies in the space of a month.
When all was said and done in the English capital, however, unfortunately, Chelsea’s efforts came up short.
After a pulsating 120 minutes packed with drama, chances galore and disallowed goals was sent to a penalty shootout, the two sides still couldn’t be separated after a full 20 perfect spot-kicks.
Liverpool shot-stopper Caoimhin Kelleher, handed starting duties over Alisson for the day, subsequently stepped forward and slotted home with aplomb, leaving Kepa Arrizabalaga with the weight of the world on his shoulders, after being introduced off the bench with just minutes remaining in proceedings, specifically owing to his abilities in shootouts.
The Spaniard, however, after failing to keep out any of Liverpool’s 11 efforts, went on to blast his ensuing strike several yards clear of the crossbar, leaving Thomas Tuchel altogether red-faced on the touchline:
SCENES!!!

On the back of the action coming to a close at Wembley, though, it is in fact not Kepa whom the vast majority of the Chelsea faithful have been keen to make their frustrations with clear.
Instead, widely targeted has been Mason Mount, whose two gilt-edged misses from glorious positions during normal time ultimately cost his side dear on Sunday:
I blame Mount anyway

Kepa not at fault. Chelsea would’ve comfortably won this if not for certain Mason Mount..

This loss is on Mason Mount, nobody should blame Kepa!

Tragic. Pulisic had his opportunity SAVED and was our best attacker today, but nobody on this app can only criticize Mount. We all know it was entirely on Mount, everyone. But just saying Mount was shite isn’t allowed.

Mount is to blame for this loss, no one else.
