Surprise speculation stemming from the English media on Saturday suggests that West Ham United have seen a big-money proposal for a key member of Premier League rivals Leeds United’s squad firmly rebuffed.
The player subject to the interest of the Irons? Raphinha.
The info comes courtesy of 90min, who, after first reporting on West Ham’s Raphinha ploy on Friday, followed up with the revelation that a big-money proposal had indeed been tabled at Elland Road.
The offer in question is understood to have consisted of £40 million up front, backed by a further £10 million in add-ons.
The transfer team at Leeds, however, did not give the bid even a 2nd thought, swiftly confirming their stance that the club’s attacking talisman is not for sale.
This comes with those in a position of power in west Yorkshire still hopeful of tying Raphinha down to a new contract.
Whilst Raphinha looks set to stay put for the remainder of the campaign, though, another member of Marcelo Bielsa’s attacking ranks could yet seal a departure from Elland Road before the winter transfer window slams shut in 48 hours’ time.
As confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, as well as a host of others, Leeds are considering a late swoop for out-of-favour Liverpool star Takumi Minamino.
This comes with highly-regarded youngster Crysencio Summerville in line for a loan exit, amid rumoured interest on the part of German outfit Hamburg.
