Brighton are interested in signing Deniz Undav, according to reports.
Brighton-based newspaper The Argus have reported over the weekend that Brighton are interested in Belgian league hotshot, Deniz Undav.
It is unclear whether the forward, who has been likened to Leandro Trossard and Marco Reus, would link up with the Seagulls this season.
A move for Undav, or any other striker for that matter, would probably make a fair bit of sense for Brighton to complete this month.
The Seagulls would loan Aaron Connolly to Middlesbrough earlier in January, leaving just Danny Welbeck and Neil Maupay as senior striking options.
And both have shown that they are currently not at the level required to finish off the chances Brighton are creating.
Graham Potter’s side are 9th in the PL at present, but have scored just 23 goals in 22 outings – a record they seriously need to improve upon if they are to progress any further as a club.
The now on-loan Connolly was also seemingly not the solution, as his finishing has been pretty dire since he joined Middlesbrough.
So, can Undav be the man to end Brighton’s goal-scoring woes?
Undav would sign for current side Union SG in July of 2020 when they were still in Belgian’s second division.
In his first season at the club, Undav would score 17 and assist five in 26 league outings, playing a key role in Union SG securing promotion to the first division.
Now, with Union SG flying high at the top the Belgian first division, Undav has scored a staggering 18 goals and provided 10 assists in 24 Jupiler Pro League games.
