Why Thiago & Minamino are missing for Liverpool vs Leicester

An explanation for Takumi Minamio and Thiago missing out for Liverpool vs Leicester has been provided.

Leicester vs Liverpool

Tuesday’s Premier League action will draw to a close at the King Power when Leicester City host Liverpool shortly.

Liverpool head into the game having recently dropped points to Tottenham and then they had their meeting with Leeds United called off on Boxing Day.

As a result, the Reds go into the Leicester game six points adrift of current league leaders Manchester City, who beat Leicester in their last game.

Liverpool do have a game in hand on City, which is the Leicester match, but even if they win that they are still three points off top spot.

And, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane set to depart for around a month in the coming days, Liverpool really need to win Tuesday’s game as there looks to be a much higher chance they will drop points next month when two of their top players depart.

Leicester, meanwhile, are languishing in midtable and struggling to put together a decent run of form, though they will take some confidence in them putting three past Manchester City recently.

Why Thiago & Minamino are missing vs Leicester

Ahead of the game, Liverpool released their starting line-up an hour before kick-off.

The eleven and matchday squad was fairly strong, though Andy Robertson was out due to suspension and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin was starting in midfield.

Chamberlin starting was somewhat surprising as Jurgen Klopp confirmed recently that Thiago was back and training after being out with covid. The former Bayern Munich man, though, was not even in the squad to face Leicester, neither was Takumi Minamino.

Now though, Liverpool have explained why both Thiago and Takumi Minamino were out, writing that the pair have minor muscles soreness:
