Royal Enfield had recently revealed its Shotgun 650 concept bike at the Milan Motorcycle Show (EICMA). They also revealed limited editions of the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. The next bike to be launched by Royal Enfield is the Scram 411. In this article, we will discuss what the Royal Enfield Scram has to offer Indian buyers.
The Scram 411 is expected to be a version of the Himalayan. There will be some evident differences in Scram 411 when compared to the Himalayan. The fuel tank will be borrowed from the Himalayan but the tank will get an additional applique on the side. The side panels of the Scram will get a new design. The bike will be smaller compared to the Himalayan. The bike will not continue to get the long-travel suspension currently available in the Himalayan. The Scram is designed to handle city commute and highway riding. It will be more manageable off-road too. The high-mounted fender will be replaced by a normal fender in the Scram. The Scram is likely to get a single-piece unit, unlike the split seat on the Himalayan.
The Royal Enfield Scam 411 is expected to get the same engine that is currently seen in the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The BS6 compliant 411cc four-stroke air-cooled engine produces 24.3bhp and 32Nm of torque. Even the five-speed gearbox will continue to be the same as the Himalayan. The Scram 411 will be sharing most of the mechanical hardware with the Himalayan. The Scram is expected to get a 19-inch spoked wheel in the front and 17-inch in the rear.
The Scram will be equipped with dual-channel ABS with switchable ABS for the rear. The instrument cluster is expected to be borrowed from the Meteor 350 with a tripper navigation system. The bike will also get grab rails where you can mount hard case touring panniers. The Scram will get a list of features similar to the latest bikes from the Royal Enfield. DRL, Mobile app connectivity, LED tail-light, Round headlamp with LED light setup, and analog speedometer will be included on the Scram.
The Scram is a road version of the Himalayan. Royal Enfield will most likely place the Scram 411 below the Himalayan. Currently, the Himalayan is priced at Rs 2,60,401 (on-road, Mumbai). We expect the Scram to be priced around Rs 1.75 lakh to 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
