RB Salzburg wunderkind Karim Adeyemi continues to show he is a bright star on a rapid rise as the German international bagged a brace for the Austrian juggernaut against holding Ligue 1 champions LOSC Lille in their Champions League Group G clash tonight at Red Bull Arena.
Adeyemi, who scored on his full international debut in a substitute appearance against Armenia earlier this month, slammed home two efforts from the spot to give Die Roten Bullen a 2-0 lead with goals on either side of the interval before Les Dogues pegged a goal back through Burak Yilmaz.
The penalty brace were goals nine and ten of the 2021-22 season for Adeyemi, who currently sits on 7-goals in 9-appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga this season, while his double-effort tonight are his first goals of the group stage though he did manage a goal against Bröndby IF in the qualifying round.

In scoring tonight, 19-year-old Adeyemi also set the record as the youngest German to score a brace in the Champions League, breaking the record set by fellow Bavarian Thomas Müller.
Liverpool and boss Jürgen Klopp remain one of a handful of elite European clubs that continue to monitor the progression and development of Karim Adeyemi.
But the former Bayern Munich youth prospect recently revealed his ideal destination amidst growing speculation regarding his future, with a return to the Bavarian giants as his next desired port of call.
Munich born and bread, Adeyemi spent two years in the Bayern system before leaving the club for smaller pastures in the youth set up at SpVgg Unterhaching before moving to Salzburg in 2018. And his determination to prove Bayern wrong lay at the heart of why he hopes to return home;
“If they made me an offer I think I would choose that path. I want to show them what I can do, who I am and that it was a mistake to leave me go. That motivates me.”
There is no telling what chance Liverpool will have in beating-out Bayern for Adeyemi’s services should the Rekordmeister make an official bid at some point, but with Liverpool linked with interest in finding a long-term center forward solution, Adeyemi will certainly remain on their radar.
