Late activity at Molineux as Renato Sanches ‘set to join’ Wolves

Portuguese international Renato Sanches is primed for a return to the Premier League with Wolves, according to reports.

Wolves’ rocky start

The opening weeks of the new season have of course proven far from straightforward for new Wolves boss Bruno Lage.

The West Midlands outfit currently sit joint-bottom of the Premier League table, having failed to secure a solitary point, or even score a goal, across the club’s first three fixtures.

In truth, however, their place in the English top-flight does not act as an accurate representation of Wolves’ performances thus far in 2021/22.

In fact, the Molineux club have looked altogether impressive in all three of their outings, creating an absolute hatful of chances, only to ultimately lose out by a solitary goal.

Reinforcements on the way?

In turn, it has been suggested that Lage’s XI may be just a difference-maker or two away from mounting a push beyond the heights of mid-table in the Premier League over the months ahead.

And, as outlined above, on Monday, one such potential addition appears to be inching closer to a move to Molineux.

The player in question? Renato Sanches.

24-year-old Sanches is of course fresh off the back of an impressive individual showing at Euro 2020 this summer, en route to Portugal’s eventual elimination in the round of 16.

Evidently, however, the midfield all-rounder has been identified as surplus to requirements at club side Lille, culminating in an imminent return to the English top-flight.

After lining out for Swansea City during the 2017-18 campaign, Sanches is now said to be on the verge of linking up with Wolves:

A further insight into the situation has since been provided by the reliable Tim Spiers, who confirms that those in a position of power at Molineux are ‘confident’ of striking a deal with their Lille counterparts ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline:
