Hector Bellerin set to take pay cut to depart Arsenal on loan for Spanish minnows

Bellerin set to depart

Hector Bellerin has not played a single minute of competitive football yet this season, and is thought to have been wanting out of the club since the beginning of the summer.

The 26-year-old Spaniard has struggled to recover from an ACL injury that he sustained in 2019, and has looked far from his best since he returned to the first team, with rumours that Arsenal were looking for a new right-back having circulated from the beginning of the summer.

Betis lined up

And, come deadline day, it appears that Bellerin’s Arsenal stint could now be over, with widespread reports suggesting that he will be returning to Spain for the upcoming season. The club in question? His boyhood side, Real Betis.

As per the reliable Charles Watts a deal is “very close”, with a potential return to Barcelona having previously been mooted but having subsequently fallen through. The Gunners are now down to just two right backs in the side, with the surprising news that Ainsley Maitland-Niles will no longer be training with the first team.

This could pave the way for a last minute addition on deadline day, although nothing is even rumoured at present.
