Barcelona lining up shock move for Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani

Ronaldo joins

Earlier today, Manchester United confirmed the addition of Cristiano Ronaldo to their squad, the Portuguese legend rejoining the club after 13 years away.

Manchester United revealed in their announcement that Ronaldo has signed a two-year deal, with the option for a further year, meaning that he could play for the Red Devils until 39 years old should he see out his deal.

As for the fee, it has reportedly set Manchester United back 15 million euros, with an additional 8 million euros in add ons, taking the potential deal to 23 million euros.

Cavani’s future in the air

The huge move for Cristiano Ronaldo has, understandably, left question marks over the future of current number 7, Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan signed a new one year deal just months ago, but is certain to see his game time drastically reduced by the arrival of Ronaldo, who now exclusively plays as a no.9.

It is reported that the club are “hopeful” that he will remain at the club past deadline day, but it is easy to see his head now being turned with minutes limited.

And it appears as if a potential suitor has emerged in the form of FC Barcelona. The Spanish club already signed Sergio Aguero this window, but injury has meant that the Argentine has not been registered to the club.

As a result, Gerard Moreno reports that they have turned their attentions to Manchester United’s Edinson Cavani, with the club in “advanced negotiations” with the forward.

Would this be the best outcome for all parties following CR7’s arrival.
