Arsenal make deadline day move for Bologna full back Takehiro Tomiyasu

Duo of right-backs out of the squad

Arsenal have managed, by hook or by crook, to remove two right backs from their squad in the past 24 hours. Hector Bellerin is on the verge of joining Real Betis on loan, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles has been demoted to the U-23 side following an Instagram spat with the club.

Arsenal “working” on deal to sign Takehiro Tomiyasu

And now, with just hours left in the window, the Gunners are seemingly set to make a last-ditch effort to sign one-time Tottenham target Takehiro Tomiyasu, the 22-year-old Japanese full-back, from Bologna.

As per the reliable David Ornstein, the defender has been on Arsenal’s radar all summer, and now talks appear to have ramped up in the past hours. As per the report:

“Arteta is an admirer of the player, and is pushing internally for this deal to be closed.

Arsenal have provided him with substantial support in this window, and indications are they may be prepared to do so again here.”

Could Tomiyasu prove the answer to Arsenal’s full back woes?
