Arsenal clearout continues as goalkeeper heads to Belgium on loan

Arsenal clear out continues

Arsenal’s much-needed summer clear-out has continued right up until deadline day, as Alex Runarsson is the latest player set to depart.

As per David Ornstein of the Athletic, via Mike McGrath, the goalkeeper is set to join Belgian side Leuven on a loan deal that will see him depart the club just 12 months, and six appearances after he joined the club in a 2 million pound deal from Ligue 1.

Reiss Nelson set to leave on loan, and Maitland-Niles could still depart

Runarsson will follow Reiss Nelson out of the exit door on loan, with the English winger set to join Feyenoord for the upcoming season as they turned their attentions away from the injured Amad Diallo.

Meanwhile, following the explosive episode with Maitland-Niles yesterday, the door is not closed for his potential departure.

As per Mark Mann-Bryans, the club have “no intention of keeping him against his will”, and will accept an offer should it be “compelling”.

Could there still be a u-turn on Maitland-Niles’ career?
