Toyota Fortuner has been one of the top-selling big SUVs in the country for many years now. The brand has maintained Fortuner’s success with generation changes and facelifts over the years. Fortuner received a facelift at the beginning of this year. The biggest change that we got to see with the latest update was the introduction of a special variant, called the ‘Legender’. This variant gets exclusive elements like the blacked-out roof on Pearl White exterior colour scheme, split quad-LED headlamps, unique front grille, hands-free tailgate, wireless charging, rear USB port, ambient lighting and contrast maroon stitching across the interior.
However, the Toyota Legender costs Rs 46.28 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai). With the Legender being a costly affair, a Fortuner owner took the route of after-market modifications to make his old Fortuner (2017) look like the Legender (2021). In today’s article, we will look at this Toyota Fortuner that has been modified into Legender and understand what all changes did the owner undertake to make this happen.
The modifications are part of a Legender body kit which includes Legender-specific elements like front grille, split quad LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, LED tail lamps and front & rear bumpers. The car also gets a blacked-out roof look that is a major highlight of the Legender. The owner has also opted for some additional mods to top up the Legender look. The car gets a bonnet mirror, chrome accent on ORVM, side cladding and vertically mounted stop lamps. The tail lamps have also been blacked out to complement the blacked-out rear garnish. This is a highly cost-effective way of updating the look of an old Fortuner.
The modifications have helped give the old Fortuner the look of the Legender, however, the power difference will still remain between the old one and the new one. The 2021 Toyota Fortuner Legender comes powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine that makes 201bhp and 500Nm of torque. This unit comes mated to an automatic gearbox, but skips the 4X4 drivetrain. The 2.8-litre diesel engine on the 2017 Fortuner made 174bhp and 450Nm of torque.
