Jack Grealish’s Manchester City switch appears to be inching ever closer, after Aston Villa struck a big-money deal on Saturday afternoon.
Recent days have of course seen speculation surrounding the transfer efforts of Premier League champions City move up a notch.
This comes with the Sky Blues, despite having come within inches of a domestic and European double last time out, desperate to add further world-class talent to the club’s already star-studded ranks.
The early weeks of the summer window saw Tottenham hitman Harry Kane chiefly linked with an Etihad switch, on the back of Sergio Aguero’s departure for Barcelona.

The last fortnight, though, has seen those in a position of power on the blue half of Manchester switch their attentions to midfield reinforcements.
The chief target? The aforementioned Jack Grealish.
In fact, just yesterday, word was forthcoming that City had tabled a mammoth £100 million bid for Aston Villa’s star man, with subsequent updates having suggested that the Claret and Blue look altogether likely to accept.
And, as outlined above, this afternoon, the most clear signal yet that the board at Villa Park are finally ready to bid farewell to the club’s star man has been forthcoming.
This comes in the form of confirmation that the Villans have struck a 30 million pound deal with Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen, over the signing of Leon Bailey.
Bailey, a gifted Jamaican winger, is primed to undergo his medical in Aston next week, before putting pen to paper on a 5-year deal.

Significantly, the 23-year-old will come as the 2nd addition to Dean Smith’s attacking ranks this summer, with Villa having already secured an equally impressive deal for Norwich City’s Emi Buendia.
Grealish may well soon be on the move, but those of a Claret and Blue persuasion can nevertheless look forward to a potentially explosive 2021/22 campaign.
