Gilmour joined Chelsea’s youth ranks in 2017, departing Scottish powerhouse, Rangers.
Gilmour has since impressed for the Blues youth teams, and had also begun to earn some chances in their senior side as well.
Under Frank Lampard Gilmour had begun to play a decent amount of senior football, with Chelsea, which included him putting on some starring displays vs Everton in the Premier League and vs Liverpool in the FA Cup.
And, after battling back from a knee injury, Lampard would continue to use Gilmour in the cup competitions, such as the Champions League, and occasionally in the league.
Following Thomas Tuchel’s arrival at Stamford Bridge though, Gilmour found his game time very limited.
The 20-year-old did not feature in the CL under Tuchel, and had to wait until May to be handed his first league start under the German.
Tuchel also opted against using Gilmour in the latter stages of the 2020/21 FA Cup.
Now, with the summer transfer window open, Gilmour is being tipped to depart Stamford Bridge.
Reports began to emerge last week that newly-promoted Norwich City are eyeing a season-long loan move for Gilmour.
Said move does look set to be great for both parties. Norwich will be in need of a replacement for Oliver Skipp, who was key to their recent promotion success, but has since returned to parent club Tottenham.
Gilmour, meanwhile, if taking the place of Skipp, should be afforded much more game time than he would have been at Chelsea in the upcoming season.
Now, on Wednesday, a fresh update on Gilmour’s future has emerged.
The update comes courtesy of the Telegraph’s John Percy, who stated that Gilmour is set for a medical at Norwich on Thursday ahead of his season-long loan move.
