Ryan Gravenberch

Age 19. DOB: 16 May 2002.

Teams: Netherlands & Ajax.

Position: Central midfielder.

The latest in a long-line of young superstars to come out of the Ajax academy.

Ryan Gravenberch joined the Amsterdam club from Zeeburgia in 2018, making 44 appearances or Jong Ajax and, so far, 61 for the first-team.

In this time he’s won two Eredivisie titles and two KNVB Cups, scoring in the 2021 final, a 2-1 victory over Vitesse.

That’s one of nine goals Gravenberch has managed so far, including a sumptuous curling effort against Midtjylland in the Champions League.

For the Netherlands, he has won three caps so far, all coming in World Cup Qualifiers in March 2021.

He came on late against Turkey and Latvia before playing the second half at right-back in the 7-0 demolition of Gibraltar.

This though has been enough to see him earn a place in Frank de Boer’s 26-man squad.

Georginio Wijnaldum, Frenkie de Jong, Donny van de Beek and Marteen de Roon are ahead of him in the midfield pecking order but don’t be surprised if Gravenberch is given some sort of opportunit at Euro 2020.
