Age 21. DOB: 8 December 1999.
Teams: England & Chelsea.
Position: Right-back.
The England men’s national team are stacked in the right-back department and Reece James certainly falls into this category.
James first came to the public’s attention in 2018/19 when he spent the season on loan at Wigan Athletic.
Whilst there, he won Player of the Year, Player’s Player of the Year and Goal of the Year; not a bad haul.
The follow season, he established himself at Chelsea as part of the core of young players entrusted to play under Frank Lampard.
So, across the last two campaigns, James has made 85 appearances, scoring three goals and providing nine assists.
When compared to other England right-backs, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the best one-on-one defender while Trent Alexander-Arnold is the best going forward.
What works it Reece James’ favour is he’s pretty good, if not outstanding, going in both directions.
This has helped him win six England caps so far and has earnt him a place in the Euro 2020 squad (to be confirmed).
