Jeremy Doku

Age 19. DOB: 27 May 2002

Teams: Belgium & Stade Rennais

Position: Winger

Jérémy Doku may only be 18 but he has the talent to light up Euro 2020.

After impressing at Anderlecht, last summer Doku moved to Stade Rennais for €26 million, smashing the club’ transfer record.

Despite only scoring twice and providing four assists since moving to Ligue 1, Doku was one of the first names on the team sheet under both Head Coaches Julien Stéphan and then Bruno Génésio.

This help Les Rouge et Noir to a respectable sixth place finish in Ligue 1 which secured qualification for the Europa Conference League play-off round.

At international level is where Doku has shown his best so far.

He scored on his full-debut back in September, in a 5-1 drubbing of Iceland in the UEFA Nations League.

Then, in his eighth cap, Doku scored for the second time, this time in an 8-0 demolition of Belarus in World Cup Qualifying; he also racked up two assists that night in Leuven.

Under Roberto Martínez, Belgium play an attacking, fluid 3-4-3 formation with Romelu Lukaku leading the line and two inside-forwards just behind.

Kevin De Bruyne, captain Eden Hazard and Dries Mertens are certainly higher up in the pecking order but, with five substituents allowed, don’t rule out Doku making an impact.

The Red Devils are amongst the favourites to win Euro 2020 so will have to use most of the 26 members of their squad if they are to go all the way.
