The latest Newcastle team news ahead of Arsenal

Newcastle vs Arsenal

Newcastle and Arsenal are set to go head-to-head at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Magpies will begin the clash sat 16th in the league and nine points clear of the bottom three thanks to their solid run of form recently.

In their last four outings the Magpies have picked up wins over Burnley and West Ham whilst earning draws with Liverpool and Tottenham.

As a result, Steve Bruce’s side only really a point or three from their remaining games to guarantee their survival.

However, it is Joe Willock who has helped earn the North East outfit a good chunk of their recent points, the latest of which came vs Liverpool – with the midfielder coming off the bench to net a 95th-minute equaliser.

But, as Willock is on loan from Arsenal, he will of course be unavailable on Sunday.

Newcastle team news

Ahead of Sunday’s game, Steve Bruce spoke to the press on Friday.

When doing so, the Newcastle boss gave an update on his side.

And it was largely positive news for Newcastle, with Bruce confirming that barring Matt Ritchie who is a slight doubt, everyone else came through the Liverpool game ok:

“We’ve got a slight doubt about Matt Ritchie. He’s got a bit of a calf injury but we think he’s going to be OK [for Sunday]. Apart from that – everybody else has come through Liverpool alright.”
