Chelsea are set to face off with capital rivals, Fulham, on Saturday afternoon.
The tie, of course, comes in the middle of the Blues’ two Champions League semi-final meetings with Real Madrid.
So, you may perhaps expect Thomas Tuchel to make a number of changes for the game at Stamford Bridge, especially given Fulham are currently in the relegation zone.
However, Chelsea are at present just three points above 5th place, and the Fulham game, on paper, is a must-win given how tough the Londoners’ end-of-season run-in is.
After facing off with Scott Parker’s side, Chelsea have league meetings with Manchester City, Arsenal, Leicester City and then Aston Villa.
Therefore, three points against a side seven points from safety with five games remaining is almost a necessity for Chelsea.
Prior to Saturday’s game, Thomas Tuchel would hold his pre-match press conference on Friday.
When doing so, the German would deliver some rather concerning news on the personnel front.
Both Mateo Kovacic and Antonio Rudiger are set to miss the game with Fulham this weekend.
Perhaps more concerningly, though, the German went to on state that he is unsure if either will be back to face Real Madrid next week. Rudiger is said to be the more likely to return of the duo:
Tuchel says Kovacic trained with Chelsea but “felt something” at the end of the session. He and Rudiger are out of the Fulham game and Tuchel is unsure if either will be back for Real Madrid, but Rudiger more likely #CFC
