Erling Haaland joined Borussia Dortmund in January of 2020, and he has since gone on to notch a sensational record both domestically and in Europe.
All told, Haaland has scored 49 goals in just 49 outings for BVB, a return which only top players such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski are usually able to provide in Europe’s top-five leagues.
The 20-year-old’s contract is believed to contain a release clause of around £65m, but that is not due to be active until 2022. And it is instead believed that BVB want £154m to part with their star striker this summer.
Such a sum would no doubt price out a few sides from being able to pursue Haaland
One side, though, who likel be able to stump up that big-money-backed Manchester City.
The Sky Blues have been linked with the hitman of late, with it even claimed earlier this month that Pep Guardiola’s men have emerged as favourites to sign Haaland.
Should City not be able to land Haaland, though, it appears the Sky Blues have already begun to make some contingency plans
According to a report from The Times, Man City will consider making a bid for Harry Kane if they are unable to sign their top transfer target, who is Erling Haaland, this summer.
Kane, much like Haaland, would no doubt set Man City back a huge sum, with it reported that Dany Levy would need a bid in excess of £120m to even entertain selling Kane.
The piece from The Times also adds that Inter Milan and Argentina striker Lautaro Martínez is said to be another player who City have scouted extensively.
