Liverpool have ‘substantial budget’ to sign a striker who can also play out wide

Liverpool’s front three

At one point, Liverpool’s front-three could rival pretty much any attack in Europe’s top-five leagues.

Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino formed a deadly attacking trident, with all three integral to Liverpool’s success, including reaching two Champions League finals, and winning their first-ever Premier League title.

But just how much longer can Liverpool rely on said trio?

Roberto Firmino has already begun to decline somewhat, with his finishing particularly poor in the current campaign.

As for Mo Salah, recent comments on the part of the Egyptian – which saw him hint he would be open to playing in Spain – are no doubt set to cast doubt over his future, especially given he stated he would be open to playing for Barcelona or Real Madrid back in December.

Liverpool eyeing a forward

And now, news has emerged that Liverpool are in the market for some reinforcements up top.

According to transfer expert Duncan Castles, Liverpool have a substantial budget to sign a striker who can also play out wide.

“My information is that Liverpool have a budget to sign a striker, who can also play wide, in the summer window and it’s a substantial budget.”

Castles adds that the Reds are looking for a player similar to Salah, though he goes on to claim that does not mean Salah is leaving:

“They’re looking for a player of similar type to Mo Salah. Now, I’m not saying that means Salah is leaving, I’m just saying that Liverpool are doing the proprietary work to sign a player of his type.”
