Insight provided into Conor Gallagher’s Chelsea future/ Blues interested in Gabriel Menino

Conor Gallagher & Chelsea

Conor Gallagher is just one of countless players to come through Chelsea’s youth system in recent times.

And like many, Gallagher is yet to taste senior football with his parent club.

Instead, Gallagher has been farmed out on a series of loans to Charlton, Swansea and West Brom at present.

Of course, West Brom are not having the best of campaigns, and do look set for a swift return to the Championship.

However, Gallagher has still been fairly impressive, with the midfielder able to chip in with two goals and two assists in 23 outings for the Baggies in the league.

But what does the future hold for Gallagher beyond 2020/21?

Gallagher’s Chelsea deal runs all the way until 2025. And according to Goal, the Londoners regard Gallagher highly and he remains one of the frontrunners to return from the loan group and move into Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the forthcoming campaign.

However, it is added that given the sheer amount of talent at Chelsea, Gallagher’s pathway could be blocked. Which does make sense given that Billy Gilmour can’t even get a game at present and he has already showcased his ability at Chelsea.

Goal add that Crystal Palace are showing an interest in Gallagher, but the length of the midfielder’s contract means they would likely have to negotiate a good fee.

Chelsea linked with Gabriel Menino

Elsewhere, Chelsea have been linked with Palmeiras central midfielder, Gabriel Menino.

Menino is just 20 years of age and has spent his entire career to date plying his trade in Brazil with Palmeiras, for who he has made 60 appearances, scoring four and assisting seven.

And according to the Daily Mail, citing reports in Spain, Chelsea have joined the race for Menino.

Palmeiras are said to be keen to cash in on the youngster to help relieve the club of financial problems resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Chelsea could face a fair bit of competition for Menino, though, with Atletico Madrid, Tottenham and Juventus also said to be interested in him.
