Dean Henderson would, of course, have a superb 2019/20 campaign on loan at Sheffield United.
The Englishman was s key figure in Chris Wilder’s side, who managed to earn one of the best defensive records in the league outside of the top sides.
So, when Henderson returned to Manchester United for 2020/21, fans of the Red Devils were no doubt hopeful of seeing the shot-stopper in action on a regular basis, especially given David de Gea has not been the most consistent performer over recent years.
However, Henderson was used sparingly during the first half of 2020/21, and did not even make a Premier league appearance till the back end of November.
In recent weeks, however, Henderson has finally been afforded a chance to show his worth.
David de Gea would miss a number of games due to his wife giving birth in Spain and him having to quarantine on his return to England.
This has led to Henderson starting Man United’s last three Premier League meetings, all of which he was able to keep clean sheets in.
The 24-year-old was also in between the sticks for both legs of United’s Europa League triumph over AC Milan.
Now, with de Gea back from training, United fans were no doubt expecting Henderson to once again play second fiddle to the Spaniard.
However, a recent report from the Telegraph suggests that may not be the case.
It is claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to stick with one goalkeeper rather than regularly change for the business end of the season, and will now have to choose between de Gea or Henderson.
Little inkling into who OGS will actually choose is given in the report, but it is no doubt a decision that will cause some debate amongst United fans.
