Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has become one of the most polarising players at the club. He is a mainstay in Mikel Arteta’s setup and has played more minutes this season than any other player in the squad.
Known for his passing ability and helping Arsenal’s left-hand side chick with balls in behind for Kieran Tierney and whoever happens to be selected on the left wing. The issue is that Xhaka is also known for his failings.
Errors leading to goal, misplaced passes and a temper which has seen him earn a number of red cards at the club.
Despite the criticism, this season Xhaka has found to be the club’s top performer according to CIES. The site analyses players across the league and has found that the Swiss international has been Arsenal’s best player and 7th across the entire league’s top performers.

Above him in ascending order: Thiago Alcantara, Harry Kane, Luke Shaw, Wilfred Ndidi, Ruben Dias and in top spot Chelsea’s Jorginho.
However despite his good performances for Arsenal this season the 28-year old could be on the way out of the Emirates and a return to the Bundesliga has been touted by German media.
Hertha Berlin are the club to have shown an interest and Granit Xhaka has not hidden away in the past about comments regarding his future.
“I have to be honest, I’m very honest with everyone. I was very, very close to leaving the club. I have, until this moment, I had a great, great time in this football club,” he said.
“But after this, I was of course a bit down because I did not expect that from the people from the fans.
“It was never in my mind to leave the club before, but after this happened, of course you think about it.”
🗣️ Xhaka was nearly out the door at Arsenal 👋

The summer could open the opportunity for Xhaka to make a decision on his future once again should the club get an offer for him.
