Reports stemming from France have credited both Arsenal and Leicester City with an interest in Ismael Doukoure.
Ismael Doukoure is currently plying his trade in the French second tier with Valenciennes.
Doukoure is just 17 years of age and has only ever featured for Valenciennes at senior level.
The young centre-back would make his senior debut for Valenciennes earlier this season, featuring for 90 minutes in a Ligue 2 clash vs FC Sochaux.
Doukoure has since gone on to feature another 14 times this term, putting in a number of impressive displays, primarily as a central defender, but once in a left-wing-back role.
Doukoure’s current contract with Valenciennes runs until the summer of 2023.
And despite his very limited experience at the top level, the Lille-born Frenchman appears to be attracting interest from some fairly big sides.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Premier League outfits Leicester City and Arsenal are showing an interest in the stopper. Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg are also said to have approached the defender.
No potential transfer fee is mentioned in the report, but do Arsenal really need to be pursuing Doukoure regardless of the sum?
The Gunners have already signed a young centre-back from France in William Saliba, and even with much more experience under his belt, Mikel Arteta is yet to play him.
Yes, Arsenal could still probably do with one or two more additions at the back, especially if David Luiz leaves in the summer.
But surely the north Londoners could spend that money on either a centre-half with much more experience or on other areas of the squad?
